ERIS: Conference which evolves and expands
Since 2005 the Association for the Development of Information Society jointly with the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the Bulgarian Academy of Science launched the EIS conference (Education in the Information Society). Initially, it was intended to serve as a forum attracting educational topics capturing the fast development of learning technologies but in 2013 it was rebranded to Education and Research in the Information Society (ERIS). During that initial period various topics on emerging technologies such as E-learning and education support systems, Serious games and virtual reality, Web technologies and cloud computing, Social networks and security of the Web environment, User modelling and user-adaptive systems, Natural language processing and information retrieval, Big data management and analysis, Knowledge discovery from data and text, Approaches for addressing cultural diversity and users with special needs, Innovative systems for e-governance, e-health and e-libraries, Social and legal aspects of the information society were discussed.
The forum targeted mainly leading research from Bulgarian academic institutions, adding to the programme contributions by invited speakers.
Responding to the interest beyond Bulgaria, since 2021 the ERIS conference was again updated with a new look and structure, and a vision to become again one of the leading computer science events in South-Eastern Europe.
The conference has several strengths:
- Possibility to publish in gold open access: Since 2021 selected papers from the conference are published by CEUR which means visibility in Scopus for your gold open-access publications without an extra cost to the authors.
- Useful feedback: The conference follows a thorough review process – each paper is reviewed by two members of the international programme committee.
- Reasonable registration fees: Being supported by ADIS, the conference also has a very moderate conference fee.
- Offering state-of-the-art content: the cycle for submitting and selecting papers is compact which allows project research with new results to be presented very expediently.
