Education and Research in the Information Society (ERIS) is an international computer science conference.
The 16th edition of the international conference Education and Research of the information Society will be held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, October 12-13, 2023, in person and online.
It covers interrelated topics such as:
- Artificial Intelligence and its applications,
- Big data management and data fusion,
- E-learning and education support systems,
- Image processing and machine vision,
- Innovative systems for e-governance, e-health and e-libraries,
- Large Language Models (e.g. Chat GPT) and their implications,
- Machine Learning and Knowledge discovery,
- Natural language processing and information retrieval,
- Serious games and virtual reality,
- Social networks and security of the Web environment,
- User modelling and user-adaptive systems,
- Web technologies and cloud computing.
Other topics from domains relevant to education and research shaping the information society are also welcome.
The conference will be accompanied by a workshop on Data Spaces for Cultural Heritage.
The ERIS proceedings shall be submitted to CEUR-WS for online publication, indexed among other at DBLP, Scopus, Semantic Scholar and Google Scholar.

Association for the Development of the Information Society
For the second time there is a special opportunity for students in master’s programs and doctoral students to apply for the “Barnev grant”.
In 2023 Barnev grant will cover the participation fee for 1 candidate to participate at the conference (covering registration fee, national transport fees and funds for residence in Plovdiv during the conference). You can indicate your interest in applying for a Barnev grant, after receiving the letter of acceptance for your article and after sending your personal statement to ario_conf@math.bas.bg.
The first winner of Barnev Grant in 2021 was Karina Agafonova, who is a student in Master program “Data, Culture, and Visualization” at ITMO University, St. Petersburg, Russia.
